St. Patrick’s Day is one of the best days of the year for us with Irish heritage; we look forward to March 17 every single year. I can promise you, any real Irishman or Irishwoman has this date marked down on their calendar every year, I know I do. To many, St Patrick’s Day is really all about the celebration of Irish culture. But then, of course, there is the reason every 21+-year-old person really loves celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. It’s not just the parade, drinking, partying, friends and family, it’s that there is nothing like going from Irish pub to Irish pub in the city. All of these truly make St. Patrick’s Day a special day, not only for people celebrating their Irish heritage, but for everyone, even if they are not Irish.

Don’t forget to check out the parade if you actually are going to be in the city. It really is a great time. I have gone year after year with friends and family. It seems to become more and more fun each year the older I get. Everyone seems to truly enjoy the parade together, almost as one big, happy Irish family. 1. McSorley’s Old Ale House
In 1854, an Irish establishment was born. Today it’s the single oldest continuously operated saloon in NYC. This one bar has more Irish heritage than most others in the entire city of New York combined.. This is a must for any Irishman or Irishwoman on St Patty’s Day looking to grab a cold pint of some of the best beer in the world.
2. Molly’s
One of the most authentic Irish bar/restaurants in NYC, it really seems to have that authentic Irish feel to it. Even the limited staff I spoke with, and our previous bartender, and I, would go back over and over again. Obviously, it would be for the genuine Irish feel, and beer, but the burger was one of my favorites. It was nothing too complex, but a big, juicy burger to help wash down all that beer!
3. Stout NYC
Opened in 2005 by owners who had opened the pubs St. Andrews and Maggie’s Place, Stout quickly has become one of the top Irish bars in NYC. Just because it’s new doesn’t mean it can’t have strong Irish heritage and feel. The 200+ beers, including their own brew that comes in 30 bottles and 24 draft varieties, makes it feel like home for anyone looking for a huge variety of beer.
4. Foley’s
From the outside in, Foley’s NY Pub and Restaurant is one of the best and most well-known Irish pubs in all of NYC. It was opened as an “Irish Bar with an attitude.” If you want to get your fair share of baseball tradition and history, as well as amazing Irish beer and food, look no further than Foley’s.
5. Doc Watson’s
There is nothing like going to the Upper East Side and enjoying a nice cold beer for St Patrick’s Day with your friends and every other Irishman. If you are checking out the best bars, don’t forget to get into Doc Watson’s for a pint or two or three or four! Don’t be afraid to get some food on the menu to keep you going on to the next bar.
Fun Fact – The Perfect Guniness
A perfect pint of Guinness takes 119.5 seconds to pour. It doesn’t stop there, the perfect pint is done in two shifts to let the stout settle. After a pause, long enough so the Guinness in the glass is a perfect black, the rest of the pint is poured. The perfect pint should have a creamy head and should be served at exactly 42.8°F degrees.
